A GLIMPSE INTO THE HISTORY OF

OUR ALMA MATER

God accomplishes great tasks with seemingly small and insignificant beginnings like a tiny seed whose germination is unnoticed but then it takes roots, grows and becomes a mighty tree. We can see similar story unfolding as we flip through the chronicles of St. Thomas School, Kidwai Nagar.

As there was a popular demand and an urgent need to starta Christian Missionary School at Kidwai Nagar, St. Thomas School was established by Rev. Fr. Benedict Pereira in the year 1986. Like any other great Institution, the School too had its humble beginning. Fr. Pereira started the school with just four rooms, 2 teachers and a few students on the roll. He nurtured the tiny saplings with love, care, and wisdom.

Thus St. Thomas School, Kidwai Nagar, Kanpur, is a Coeducational English Medium School, established in 1986 and administered by a Christian Minority, i.e. the R.C. Diocese of Allahabad under Article 30 (1) of the Constitution of India. The School is governed by the St. Thomas Education Society, Allahabad, a registered body whose Director General is the Bishop of the R.C. Diocese of Allahabad. It is principally meant to cater to the educational needs of the Catholic children of Kidwai Nagar and its surrounding areas. Admission is also open to non-Christians on the basis of merit without any discrimination of caste, creed or culture. The School is affiliated to the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi.

A seed that was sown in the year 1986 has become a plant and it is growing day by day. It has carved a niche for itself in the field of education as one of the topmost Schools of Kanpur city. The credit goes to great luminaries who have served this institution as Principals
